The feedback from the participants on the day was extremely positive. The following are some of the comments received in writing:

  • It was excellent and inspiring. The whole workshop was really informative and heartening to think that such fantastic people and projects are working in education in Victoria.
  • The opportunity to meet with like-minded people to further the cause of acceptance and understanding in our schools and the wider communitiy.
  • A broader understanding of Muslims in Australia on all levels. Excellent workshop discussions and topics. Great activities, interactive and most engaging.
  • Increased awareness of Muslim history in Australia. Increased awareness of individual student's experiences. Awareness of cultural realities such as Muslim parents' views on the role of education.
  • It was great to see so many people who were interested in Islam and building bridges.
  • A better awareness of parents' attitudes, namely their expectations of their teachers' responsibilities. Learning to first look at people and get better informed on what influences their judgment and decisions.

  • Andree Poulter - Assistant Principal of the Reservoir District Secondary College, which has a sizeable Muslim student population that has grown rapidly in the past decade
