“The Evolutionary Role of Women in Islam” by Zubeda Raihman

The workshop will be an open forum in which participants will be encouraged to contribute to the discussion about “Women in Islam”.

Zubeda Raihman, MHE (LEAD), BA (ACCG), ASA

Zubeda is currently the Revenue Services Manager at Macquarie University, Sydney. She is actively involved in women’s issues in the Muslim community. In her volunteer community service capacity, she is a project manager and representative of the Muslim Women’s National Network of Australia, Inc (MWNNA), as well as the treasurer of the Australian Women’s Coalition. Zubeda has managed many projects for MWNNA with respect to Living in Harmony and Bridge Building in conjunction with Department of Immigration and Citizenship and in partnership with other organizations such as University of Technology Sydney, National Council of Jewish Women, PPSEAWA, National Council of Women, NSW and numerous other universities and schools. She is also a keen supporter of interfaith activities and is the treasurer of the Women’s Interfaith Network, NSW representing the Islamic faith. Zubeda has hosted several regional and national conferences in Sydney.
